Our Planet Matters

From our raw materials, to our packaging, to our cleaning products, we make sure everything we use is cruelty free and planet friendly.

The Next Generation Matters

We would love the next generation to have a beautiful, pure, natural environment to grow up in. So we use vegan, recycled, biodegradable, compostable and organic materials wherever it's possible for us to do so. And green energy too.

People Matter

We check that the companies we buy our supplies from care about people, and we use fair trade products wherever they are available.

The Vibe Matters

We chose the materials we use to create our products and the companies we buy them from, because of their vibe.

Making sure everything we use has a good vibe to start with, means the end result is even higher.

Chroma Supply

Thank you for your email. Good to hear that you like our products.

Re your question. Our main paper supplier is pretty certain that modern recycled paper production will not include any gelatine unless through accidental contamination of the waste paper. Perhaps the use of gelatine could be true for some imported far eastern papers but we only buy from ethically aware UK or EU suppliers.

However glue is a different matter. Animal based glues (which we don't sell) would most likely be biodegradable whereas with petrochemical polymer based glues there is more potential (although probably very small) for there to be some non degradable residues, so they cannot be considered 100% biodegradable.

Hopefully the following will be of help.

Animal Friendly Product Specifications

  • All of our paper, card and packaging products are made from recycling waste paper collected from household and industry paper collections, which should not contain any animal waste products but we could not 100% guarantee this. The paper is then thoroughly cleaned to remove any such contaminates before processing. Most colours (excluding Ivory) contain no virgin fibre (wood pulp).

  • The modern recycling process itself doesn't require the use of animal products or any animal testing.

  • Most of the materials we sell is not dyed and where the material is coloured, the dyes used will always be up to the latest EU safety legislation, and will be non-toxic and free from any animal pigments such as cochineal.

  • Our envelopes are free from animal based adhesives and do not contain any gelatine. (The sealed parts use PVA and the flap glue is potato starch based)

  • Our clear bags are oil / corn / potato starch based with the self seal bags using a non toxic petro-chemical based adhesive tape (free from any animal products including Gelatine). Our new cellophane bags are made from cellulose derived from annually renewable wood pulp which is biodegradable.

  • The PVA glue is non toxic and is derived from vegetable based resins or chemical polymers.

  • All our paper and card is biodegradable and compostable but unless it's too dirty it would be far better to recycle it instead.

  • In essence, as far as is humanly possible we are happy that our products are animal friendly and should be suitable for use by vegetarians / vegan.

Envato Elements

Thank you for contacting Epson's UK Customer Inter@ction Centre. Following on from your emails at the weekend:

  • “Epson avoids animal testing wherever possible, but strictly enforces ethical and humane treatment of laboratory animals if such testing becomes absolutely necessary by law. We conduct and manage animal experiments using appropriate methods in consideration of the well-being of the animals, and proceed after considering the necessity of the experiments, potential alternatives, minimizing the frequency of experiments, and reducing the suffering of the animals.”

I can confirm for you the following:

  • No animal products in any of our media or inks

  • All inks apart from dye-based are acid-free and cellulose free.

(I only use their pigment based inks)

I'm really sorry I don’t think that the lids or plastic roller balls are recyclable unfortunately.

Most frustrating, I have tried to find something like this but to no avail, hence I think more people are using the metal roller balls but these aren’t for everyone.

Sorry can't be more positive with this one.

(I use their roller bottles, which are glass and recycleable except for the lids and applicators)
